JFK-BKK on TG, then BKK-SIN-CMB on SQ is a valid routing. I'm holding an award ticket like this for next February. Same goes for EWR-SIN-CMB on SQ. However, I think you have to commit to one or the other for the outbound and the return (the Thai Airways route OR the Singapore route).
