Some insight from the LH side
UA MP is using *NET and other paltforms. In short UA uses Appolo / Saber for Revenue management, booking etc, but Amadeus for the FF information.
LH is fuly Amadeus based.
Even though LH Systems and Amadeus will be the joint *A platform, revenue managment, inventory control and other key features will stay in the hands of the operating carrier.
In the end LH or any other carrier needs to load the award inventory for *A carriers into Amadeus so they can access it. At the moment LH would need ot load it additionally into Apolo/Saber.
Most *A carriers have restricted availability for UA MP members due to the inflation of miles in the MP accounts.
If LH would open up all award inventory it would be certain that the MP members would be able to use 100% of the inventory. However to protect their own customers they limit avaiability. LH Customers also can only access saver awards for example.
So who's fault is it.
Both I guess. UA for issuing too many MP miles and LH for keeping MM a loyality scheme and rewarding their own customers more. Same a UA MP is only rearding own customers with E+ access, so LH decides to reduce number of available seats to MP customers.
Simple but painful.
Using any of the tools won't help, bcs in the end you can only book what the agent sees. And the agent sees only what Lh wants them to see.
The migration to Amadeus will ease things (such as milage credit) but will not improve the award availability.
