My Dear Advocate, if its 744 metal and you are flying F, thats an easy one. LH´s upstairs configuration is (at least to my knowledge) the same on all its birds. 4 rows of seats, 4 seats per row.
Granted it does get a little more complicated if you are in C or Y... but then, in C (and in this class is where IMO you really need to worry about getting a special seat) unless you have SEN status I think its gonna be pretty hard to lock down one of the goodies... what do the rest of the resident Senators think?
As to the exact type of plane that will serve a given route, Ive never really looked into that, but offhand I think its a very long shot. Im sure LH´s phone agents will tell you what type of generic metal is programmed for the flight, and if they look into the details of the seatmap you should be able to conclude which specific bird the computer is assuming will serve the route. But, remember that there are sometimes last minute changes of equipment, especially in larger hubs where LH has many planes sitting around. I guess you need to think about whether its all worth the hassle.
