Thanks everyone for the input. It seems like the inflight crew just did not want to offer the service. I know the VOD sometimes needs to be recycled and I guess the incharge did not want to deal with it.

I guess when there is no perceived competition AC does not impress upon their staff quality of service or to offer an enhanced customer experience.

Although, I suspect the reasoning that will be propagated will be the Transport Canada announcement Ken mentioned! LMAO!
