New airline service between Chicago and three Downstate communities will begin in February with the support of a $1.6 million state subsidy, officials said today.

The commuter carrier Air Midwest will operate daily flights from Midway Airport to Decatur, Quincy and Marion, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.
