I was quite appalled by it too... but they mean any flights that are code shared with multiple carriers are not allowed. As an example - this rules out any United flights since all United flights are code shared with *Alliance partners such as US Air and America West, etc.
I was looking at LAX-RDU or LAX-EWN when I had called them. I called back and they did manage to find LAX-RDU through AA at $660, but I can buy 2 tickets for less than $450 on the date that I had provided them through US Airways...
