While the article says it will not open until January 1, 2007, in fact you can sign up now (I did so), and start earning miles. There is a 100 mile sign up and then lots of small survey type things (to see what you are interested in) for either 25 or 15 miles each.

I have done so - I will try to remember to let everyone know when my miles show up.
