MP practice/ policy on miles for reroute
We are all pretty well versed in knowing that MP will grant miles for our original ticket if we are rerouted. It usually takes a call or a fax.
But I am in a tough situation (per my other "trip in vain" thread). I was ticketed LAX-SFO-HNL-LAX for a same day MR. SFO-HNL was delayed to the point that I would miss my connection/ return flight back. So UA in SFO essentially took both coupons (SFO-HNL and HNL-LAX) and just sent me back to LAX.
Thus, the ticket shows that all coupons are used, and thus UA won't issue a refund.
MP has given me many answers on what to do about the miles I was ticketed for:
1) Wait three days and you will get the credit
2) Fax in the e-receipt and you will get the credit
3) (basically), "How dare you think this is a frequent buyer program! MP NEVER gives miles for flights that aren't flown. We only give miles if we put you on another carrier. It doesn't matter if the tickets were lifted. And by looking at your history, we have NEVER done this for you." (Agent looked at my entire 20 year history within three seconds). I spoke to this agent's sup (mistake) who repeated the same, and documented that I was advised that no miles can be granted.
So I got myself into a corner here. Is there any way out?
