I think the game is mis-described on their site.
The total score of your three tries seems to be what counts towards winning - not your best score out of your three tries.
Unfortunately I can't hit three good shots in a row to get over 10000 to really check this out - but it looks right based on some good shots I've made of 3000-3400 or thereabouts.
