Mrs PG is of a medical persuasion, some years ago she came across a academic paper on the use of melatonin and jet lag. (Unfortunately I lost it and have haven't found it on line, but it was decent institution that had written it.)

Long and shorts, it can work for some, but if you take it at the wrong time in your "sleep cycle.." it can actually further mess up your sleep patterns. Spend ten minutes and Google out the subject, there is a lot of conflicting information, which in my mind makes me uncomfortable. Look for the research papers, there is a lot of marketing driven melatonin stuff out there.

I'm doing less these days, but I used to do 2 or 3 long hauls trips a month, I never took anything to correct sleep patterns apart from copious quantities of the greatest medication I know, Shiraz, Merlot.. ^
