AA 407 ORD-STL - 258 miles - 1 sticker
If it existed (PHL-STL is Eagle nonstops) ..
AA 450 PHL-ORD
AA 450 ORD-PHL (SAME FLIGHT NUMBER)
would track as PHL-STL nonstop 811 miles - 2 stickers
When the same flight number continues (called Thru Flight) [without regard if AA changes the equipment along the way] it is point to point.
Otherwise it is segment by segment.
Also your phrase 'advance list' I am assuming you mean on request. AA does not deduct the stickers until the boarding pass is printed out (or technically you have to have stickers in your account in order to print the boarding pass and the deduction is 'locked' at that point.
