One more question - if you advance list upgrades on multiple segements and they clear in advance together will AA deduct the entire point-to-point mileage like UA does (such as - if you fly PHL-ORD-STL they will only take 2 certs rather than three because PHL-STL is sub-1000 miles if it clears together) or does AA only look at it on a per-segement basis?
