higher rates are for members with a German (and now also, I think, with an Austrian) address (they need 150'000 status miles to reach Senator, all others need 'only' 100'000 status miles).

basic miles, class-bonus miles, and status-bonus miles will be credited for flights on all Star-carriers and all these miles count as status miles for miles&more.

You will also profit from higher minimum miles for short distance-flights.

Here is my comparison of UA 1K status and LH Senator status:

some Plus-sides (compared with Mileage Plus):
* status validity 2 calendar-years (UA: 1 year)
* only every second year are status miles needed for requalification (UA: every year)
* upgrades good on any paid fare (UA selected fares)
* Lounge access (RCC) also when flying inner-Northamerica (UA: no RCC access on inner NorthAmerican flights)
* business-class bonus 100% (UA 25%) counting as status miles (UA: only bonus)
* first class bonus 200% (UA 50%) counting as status miles (UA: only bonus)
* status bonus 25%/50%/75% eco/business/first (UA 100%) count as status miles (UA bonus miles only)
* higher miles&more minimum miles, example: on UA or LH flights 1'000 miles (UA: 500 miles)
* healthier LH miles&more financial background (UA chapter 11?).

some disadvantages (compared with UA MIleage Plus):
* no 500er inner North American vouchers
* no HK49
* only rare (per 50'000 status miles) earning possibilities of upgrade vouchers, 2 vouchers needed for an upgrade (UA 6 SWU per year for 1K)
* no 1K check-in queing on UA flights (but 1st class queing on LH flights)
* no 1Mio program (UA: 1Mio miles = life long Premier Executiv status). This one changed just some days ago, they now offer lifetime Senator status for Senators that are over 60 years old, did accumulate > 1 Mio status miles since becoming Senator (uniterrupted Senator status since that counter started) and are Senator for at least 5 years in a row.
