Don't be fooled! Ba has always made a handsome profit on these routes - in the same way it has always turned in a good return for Gatwick's short haul routes.

What kills them is creative accountancy - the massive contribution pulled out of the revenue for Head Office ("Waterworld") support costs and the massive management costs associated with it!

Anyone who looks at our "Investor" magazine will realise what a huge number of people, on grossly inflated remuneration packages, sit on the BA Board - Crikey, we even have a "Secretariat!" I bet FlyBe doesn't, and sure as hell O'Leary wouldn't stand for having an "Im" department, a "Multimedia" department etc!

We are in a competitive market, but are dragged down by a huge "Sea Anchor" or "Drogue"!
