Sominex (active ingredient promethazine), available OTC from Boots. It's one of the class of old-fashioned antishistamines that cross the blood-brain barrier and therefore make you drowsy. (It's also a component of Night Nurse, included in order to help you sleep.) But take it earlier than 30 minutes before departure if you can. I find that it takes between 18 and 24 hours to clear completely from the time I take it.

Most of my trips to Oz are in Y; all of them are aided by this. Works a treat: I like being able to fly SYD-LHR overnight in Y, and to have had enough sleep that I can spend a full day in the office (if only to deal with post and emails).
