There are plenty of ways of getting status miles.

I'd advise having alook for UA runs in CA, maybe the Mileage Run forum is the best place to look?

Most UA routing tables for intra-CA tix can be streched to 6-8 segments (Some 10000 Status Miles). You'll need at least two days (needn't be a weekend) to get the segments in.
