I always do this too, for as long as I can remember. I'll also give the plane a pat again as I disembark.

I find it amazing to read that there are others who have the same ritual as I. I guess it goes to show that no matter what you do, there is someone else somewhere in the world with the same habits

Well let’s look at it this way……..

If you lose an engine on a Quad, you’re only down 25% of your power.

But on a twin, an engine out represents a 50% loss in power…..that’s half your thrust gone boys ‘n’ girls !!!

But I don’t think we’ll be able schedule around the twins as easily for too much longer. The airlines are getting more & more twins these days & with the likes of the 787 coming out there’ll even be more coming on stream.

Still I’d rather be on a twin any day sooner than on Airbus’s new “Whale Jet”

It’ll be a long time before I set foot on one of those I can tell you……..Too big & way too many people !!!
