Sure, even without status flying IB J gets you J lounge access (IB uses the BA Terraces lounge). If you had been flying Y on IB you would still have lounge access, based on AA Plat status. The J lounge is virtually identical to the F lounge at JFK (as the real F lounge for BA is the Concorde Room, and not the F lounge). Not sure if IB pays for pre-flight dining at JFK (probably not); if they do, eat in the lounge, it will be better than the IB J food served inflight.
Thank you. I know that BA can be restrictive in some lounges, so it's nice to know we're good to go. And thanks for the tip about pre-flight dining. If it's an option, we will definitely avail ourselves.
