I would say definately not Starbucks. I'd be surprised if the crew were permitted to drink the said cup or in the absence of a regulation actually thought it a good idea to drink a cup of coffee purchased out of sight by a strange passenger. You could have slipped anything into that drink to knock them out for the flight. Just the way the world is now.
To the OP: If you wanted to get a gift, some sort of gift cert or something equally non-threatening would be better. However I doubt it would be the same crew on your return and if it was you are just another passenger, albiet a little more crazy
