I can remeber it all, just that I found it rather strange and following my questions to them discovered that LHR does not have follow me vehicles.
The green light/red light system at LHR is wonderful. Even from the pax cabin, you can see the system at work - you have a line of green lights in the ground to follow, and you stop at the red bars. And the ground controllers turn these on and off to confirm your clearances.
I'm sure that if all airports bothered to install this, there would be fewer runway incursion incidents.
