It wasn't a strict environment by any standard, certainly not compared to places run by the Jesuits or Christian Brothers.
It was more the homogeneity of the people I was educated alongside I was thinking of. Prize giving was and endless sea of Volvo estates, labradors and comely sisters called Sophie.
