I fully agree. Taxi drivers in other French cities also are shocked when I discuss it with them. Unfortunately, it is perfectly legal, and the EUR 26 fare is charged whether rhe beach front hotel is close to the center of Nice, or just two km beyond the boundaries of the airport ...
