Maybe you should try calling UA MP instead of e-mailing them. UA credited my original itinerary SNA-IAD-ABE when I was re-routed to SNA-ORD-ABE due to weather delay. The MP agent credited my miles over the phone and I was able to get the EQMs for my original flight routing.
