I have to second manchester with it gay village, the shopping areas within downtown. It is all walking distances. The best part, it has nice people. The bad part... seems that it always rain... at least one of the nights every time that I go over. Well, not like it stops anything. Lots of night spots and hotels next to the village.

As Krug said... London also has lots of nice areas. There are also nice towns near London.
