You're right about the beef - but then I stay away from beef on planes anyway.
The fish was perfectly fine!
And so is the chicken choice!
I like the scallop starter but it's been on too long.
And it is disappointing that they seem to serve this on EVERY long haul flight from AMS.

Flew AMS-JNB this week and had both the cheese and icecream, no problem at all, sufficient food on board and a smile to go with it.
That is KL's biggest problem in my opinion: the inconsistency of the service.
And to talk about chinaware: on airlines like Qantas and South African they give you packets of nuts in J-class, not a nice full porcelain bowl like on KL.
So the grass is not always greener...

And agree with you again, comparison with coach is not the point.
