i also agree that the thai traditional dresses are a nice touch. much much much nicer than their "western" uniforms. what i don't understand if why they can't wear their tradtiional dresses the whole time. other asian carriers- SG, Malaysia, Indian (?), wear tradtiional dresses the whole time.
I agree 100% TG flight attendents (although sometimes not as polished and honed as their European counterparts in superficial Western etiquette like addressing people by surnames or recognizing the placement of utensils when one is finished eating and other non-essential things in my opinion) are generally more genuinely friendly and service-oriented (especially if you compare on a general basis to LH or UA for instance....)

I have flown LH in First more than a few times...no contest...TG all the way in terms of service... you sometimes have to nudge TG attendents on your preferences, expectations etc., but they react on a genuinely friendly or helpful basis...(no so in my experiences on, for example, LH)...

I also agree that the Thai traditional oriented or inspired uniforms are MUCH more attractive to foreign flyers...however unfortunately a lot of my Thai friends & colleagues think "modern" is better...maybe that is the thinking at top TG management?....very unfortunate in my opinion... Thai culture and characteristics is the strength of TG I think.... I also wish the new painted livery on the planes also went with a more Thai theme like the wonderful Royal Barges themes which all my foriegn friends always gush over (instead of trying to be "modern")...oh well...
