In my mind there is only one possible answer to this: YES.

How can the fact that you will have to stand up to retrieve your laptop and papers once during your flight (and once to put them away) be considered a significant inconvenience? (Especially so when the person beside you who might have to shift their legs a few inches is your wife.)
