Airline crews shouldn't take a tip (incontrast to e.g. staff in a train). Crews are considered to be the host. Many airlines (e.g. LH) forbid their crews to take a tip (the recommendation is to take the tip before a dispute starts and give it to a charity organisation afterwards).

If I feel a crew was much better than expected or did something really special for me and I want to tip them I always buy some chocolates from the inflight duty free (no matter which airline they were always more than happy and it was eaten immediately

)
Or I write a letter to LH about a crew or a specific crew member. FAs told me they really appreciate those kinds of letters.
