In addition it was precisely the excellent TG service and flexibility which allowed me to make the trip to FRA, arrive in the early morning and return that very same evening on a later Tg flight once business was finished. On the return leg I was given 4 seats blocked so as I could sleep.

I have to agree with you here. I have flown most of them over the years and have found that overall, TG provides one of the best flying experiences that you will find. Sure there are exceptions, but as a rule, TG is one of the best. At least in my opinion.
Personally I think the Thai dress is a great touch and I'd hate to see it go away. To me, it conjurs up memories of the old days, when all of the airlines tried to make flying a special experience.
