I agree the CP status has been dumbed down, and this is why I have become a UA 1K. I think on balance I am recognized more for being a UA 1K than I was as a US CP.
There were some notable exceptions, but I think those people might have left the company. For instance once there was a g/a who called me on my cell phone when I was not at the gate 10-15 mins before to see if I would still take the flight I was booked on or want a later one.
An example of special recognition at UA was that I was on voluntary standby and misconnected in a hub and they still gave me a hotel voucher.
Also at the UA ticket counter they don't nickel and dime me with extra fees like $25 to go earlier/later same day. While US does not do this in all stations, some stations do it, and at UA no station does it

I wonder if the average "lazy CP" to borrow the "Lazy Plat" from the CO board, e.g. a CP who knows nothing about airlines or ff programs, even knows the program has been dumbed down
