Beginning of October was on a DL flight from CVG to EWR. In plane and seated. The Captain came on and announced that a panel on the engine had fallen off and was being replaced so we'll be delayed in gate for a while. The repair was minor so there was not supposed to be a problem or a serious delay and didn't jeopardize our safety.

But all I could do was picture parts of the engine falling off in flight. I must have channeled every fear I have plus the movie Final Destination. I took myself off the flight due to a then massive panic attack.

The flight landed with no problem - although a CO flight the same day to EWR from CVG was diverted to CLE for security concerns. I took the first flight out the next morning which also, of course, went on without a hitch.
