No expert here, but my guess would be if you do end up playing that much, at the end of your stay they may comp you your room. Without any previous playing history, I doubt they'd upgrade you up front just on the promise that you'll play.
I'd say pay the $100 for the upgrade, if you do get comp'ed, you'll end up saving more than that by your free room.
