That's really wild since for many months now (until recently) this property was shown as reopening in December 2006 as a Sheraton still, but in a smaller form due to the other half of the property's being torn down to make way for the new Westin Timeshare property there.
It strikes me as very odd that after a year or more of consistent renovations and internal work going on at this old Sheraton that, at the 13th hour, Starwood would opt to drop it.
Sounds like there's more to the story, doesn't it???

As of September 11, 2006, this hotel is no longer part of the family of Starwood Hotels & Resorts properties. There were some rumors that it is being torn down to be replaced (maybe re-branded) at a later date, but I have access to nothing internally that would confirm that.
