BA might have sorted its service out Stateside but JFK still sucks! The last two times my other half has flown back from there the queue after pushback to take-off has been over an hour long! Talking to colleagues here that is not unusual and many people now choose EWR for the return journey as a result.
Last friday night we didnt even push back until 60 or 70 mins ish after scheduled departure time. Something about a fire in the ATC place, and having to get a new flight plan, then take on more fuel. then a nice long line of planes in front of us on the taxiway.
Sure enough looking at the map on the screen, we went more directly across the atlantic instead of over newfoundland.
Quite why boarding wasnt delayed I am not sure- they knew about it beforehand
