I have Frequent Traveller status and as I am travelling from NRT on Lufthansa, tried to upgrade and it was only possible on my return trip. I noticed that my FRA-NRT segment was upgraded but not my MXP-FRA.
Strange, I asked the agent and she said that now it's 50,000 miles one way Far East Asia to Germany, then another 10,000 miles on the European segment, so 60,000 miles overall. When I upgraded with other european airlines, the european segment was always included. Is this a new trend? Although Lufthansa is generous with miles, 120,000 miles return from NRT for an upgrade to business (it's even more from Business to First) is a bit too much for my taste.
