Markie, I can confirm what Rudi has posted from my own experience just this past few days. I joined LH M&M for this promo since I am planning a visit to Papenburg; M&M customer service agents here in USA were exceptionally nice helping me when I explained what I wanted to do. Specifically, they also cautioned me to call back reservations to make sure that any code share flights booked as LH flights be changed to book on operating carrier because "M&M will count them as LH flights and you will not get credit for flying a *A partner". When I called back reservations to make the changes, the agent there agreed with this analysis, and cheerfully, quickly and unhesitatingly rebooked four (yes 4!) code share flights for me.
Not only that, but I happened to mention, in passing, to the res agent that it would be easier for me to pick up tix in NYC next week rather than ticket by mail. When the fare/ratings agent called me back to confirm the itinerary and fare, she asked if I would like for her to arrange this, and also if she could, to find M&M program info for me as info package is not usually sent out to new members until after first 3,000 miles are earned.
All in all, they couldn't have been nicer or more helpful to me; LH agents were patient with my questions, offered sensible and pertinent advice, and I was taken care of very well. They made me feel pretty special, and now I am looking forward to my very first LH adventure!!!
