Getting two F reward redemption seats on any carrier can be difficult at the best of times so I think it might be best to assume J.
If your taking day flights and not worried about sleeping I would definiately go CX or as second best QF. If night flights and you want sleep BA or QF depending on your height.
I still have a feeling that you might be best off routing via FRA on QF due to their being less demand. Having said that, CX sometimes has good availability via FCO. BA would obviously be used for the euro sectors.
Not sure what it is like for the BA programme, but on QF the Roo route redemptions usually end up on the day QF flights out of LHR (i.e. QF 30 & 32) and as March is not always that popular (except around Grand Prix to MEL) you could be in with a chance. Getting across the Tasman to AKL, CHC or WLG though can be tough as both QF and NZ prefer to sell tickets for real money. LA fly between SYD and AKL so that is another OW option although be aware that is has a pretty awful departure time and would mean you overnighting it in SYD.
