LA fly FRA-MAD-SCL, Service is above average, although in Y the seating on the 340 can be a little tight.

To the OP depending on what time of the year you are going will effect LA availability on the SCL-AKL route. In the Southern summer you can pretty much forget it.

My personal option would be to take CX all the way, as long as you can live without F for half of your flight.

Edit to add: You could also look at BA LHR-LAX QF LAX-AKL direct service
