I think it's more than just an option:

<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">BA will continue to run the German operation for the next nine months but easyJet had agreed to contribute GBP£3.1million (USD$4.5 million) towards capital costs and pay British Airways GBP£366,000 (USD$574,000) per month until it exercises its option. Current flight schedules will be unaltered during that period.</font>
