The worst that happens is, you sometimes don't get stay credit or points, which I don't expect anyway with Priceline. But once at the Chicago Hilton I had two friends with me on cheapo Priceline deals, and we were all upgraded to an executive floor and given lounge access on the strength of my HHonors Gold status. So I guess I've always had on par or better treatment.
I've had it happen a couple of times - once when I somehow got a smoking room when I was sure I said non. The room STANK and they refused to swap me saying "sorry this reservation is non-changeable, non-cancellable and non-refundable". Quite rude about it. I rented a minivan once and got the crappy one out back that was beat up. Rented a car once and they refused to let me upgrade for the extra few bucks a day to another vehicle (I can understand that, but the agent was quite rude about it). She said "Sir you paid way less than this vehicle is worth, how can you expect us to provide another vehicle at a slight additional cost? When people bid so low on rentals they cause us major problems because we're losing money and it just hurts our inventory". I just reminded her that the decision was made way above her level, and I would be surprised if Hertz was soliciting corporate strategy advice from ticket counter clerks. Rude, yes, but so was she.
