I've only been in the cockpit of a plane once - it was a UA 777 back in 1997. The pilot gave me a card with all the stats for the plane on it. He was quite proud to fly the "Queen of the fleet" as he called it.
It's probably not much of a consolation for those who've been in the cockpit during take-off and landing, but some of the CX aircraft have an external camera on them so you can watch takeoff and landing from the camera's perch under the wing without having to leave your seat. Having never been prvileged to be in a cockpit during flight, I found watching the external camera channel on CX 830 absolutely fascinating. I've never been more relieved than when I saw the landing gear come down without a hitch just before landing into JFK.
