How mad should I have been about bloodstains on my hotel room floor?
I stayed in the Residence Inn at Elizabeth, NJ this past weekend. I got a good price through priceline. The base price was $58/night and the hotel website had been asking $105/night.
My mother and I arrived at the hotel around 3pm. We were exhausted so we took a nap until 5pm. My mom then noticed these two, half dollar sized blood stains near the sink. They were dry, but after noticing them, they bothered me. I complained to the desk and they said they'd send someone to clean it.
I had to get ready for a rehersal dinner, so I took a shower, etc, and after 20 minutes, no one had come to clean the room. We called again, and someone came 5 minutes later. He came with a spray bottle and after showing him the stains, he said he'd come back with a machine.
As I'm finishing getting dressed, the guy returns. I ask him to come back in a few minutes as we were still getting ready. I said we'd be gone in 5 mins, and he could clean then.
When we returned at night, I wasn't surprised to see that the cleaner hadn't returned. The stains were still there so I called the front desk, and the night clerk offered to move me to another room. We took that other room, of course.
Should I have asked for another room at the beginning? Thinking back on the experience, it would have been better for them to just offer that at the beginning and clean it after we had moved.
Other than this issue, the hotel was fine. It looked like all the hotels were built only a few years ago. I'd definately stay there again in May when I have to be near Staten Island for another wedding.
