I like the idea of a piece of newspaper etc. to line the bins. We do always put
shoes in a bin, because I'm often with my small children and I want all the
shoes together for faster re-shoeing on the other side. If I were convinced
that other people didn't put shoes in bins, and that I were causing more
dirt to be in those filthy bins, then I would refrain from doing so.
I think the bigger problem (since the bins and belts are so gross) is what to
do with "cleaner" things like our jackets/wallets/etc. I have brought a large
trash bag to put our family's coats in instead of (or in addition to) a bin.
I also like the idea of having wet-ones on hand to wipe out a bin.
Re taking off shoes to go into one's house, YES...but of course, after being
in an airport, we now also have to take off our socks.... I haven't mastered
taking a whole family through and changing socks and then re-shoeing.
I wonder if it would work to have each of us wear a plastic baggie over
each foot as we walked through without shoes on....
