At SLC security, they took away a spray bottle containing sun block. It was larger than 3 oz, but it fit in the quart bag, so I poured most of the contents out before traveling so the liquid was obviously under 3 oz. I only need a little for the top of the head on sunny days. The TSA guy told me it wasn't the liquid contents, but the size of the container that mattered. See, I knew the whole size doesn't matter, it's how it's used thing was just made up and not true!
