One more thought----while any traveller would be inconvienced to have to refill a prescription they already had filled, and then had taken away (grrr), one should consider this. I've noticed the last several times when visiting the Dr. for myself, and taking my elderly Mother, that all offices now have a sign, in bold print, and in plain view stating "We are not responsible for lost, stolen, spilled, etc. prescriptions." While I understand this is probably necessary in SOME cases because of the widespread abuse of certain narcotics these days, and I'm sure the OP wouldn't have a problem with his or her Dr. calling a new cancer med in (which the insurance probably wouldn't pay for again if it's not time for a refill) many pax rely on narcotics or other "controlled substances" that may be considered maintenance drugs for their condition, but there are now strict policies against refilling those for any reason before due. So these folks would be screwed in the OP's position as well. A med they clearly needed, and TSA makes life difficult all the way around, with paying for new meds, or all the hassle they'll get to refill difficult ones)
Tacky situation and something shoud be done!
