What does Club Gold actually give me?
Firstly, apologies if this question has already been asked but as per usual FT search is not working.

Recently I signed up to Hertz Club Gold using my Amex Plat and to be honest I have absolutely no idea what Club Gold will actually do for me, and so far what I can see seems extremely dissapointing.

At the moment I am trying to book a car in France and I have noticed that if I DON'T log into the system using my Hertz Club gold number, I get substantially cheaper rates. In my case the car I am looking for goes up for 82 GBP to 115 GBP which is a substantial difference.

Is Club Gold simply a way of Hertz charging higher rates for what is effectively the same product?
