Do as I did...

When I traveled on Tiger Airways this past spring (Singapore to Darwin, and return), I was in the middle of a one-month trip through SE Asia. So, yes, I did have luggage and no, I was not about to jettison it simply to make life easier for Tiger Airways.

I simply took everything with me, and paid the excess baggage charges. The excess baggage charges are delineated on the Tiger Airways website, and are charged against you twice (once outbound, and once again inbound if doing a round-trip). In my case, I recollect that the excess baggage charges were about $US50 on each occasion, almost as much as the actual airfare.

Tiger Airways staff will weigh your baggage, then give you a bill that you must bring to a different desk for payment. Upon receipt of the payment, the staff will then put the destination tags on your luggage.
