Sell the "First" class cabin as Biz class. Improve the food/bvg selection and service. The only drawback is the lack of PTV.
As a business analyst, these decisions drivre me nuts!! I'd really love to get an answer - but, like most things in the airline industry, we'll just speculate I guess.
If you really are a business analyst, then I assure you that you will never be hired if I run an airline.

United is competing with BA, AF, and KL (among others) across the pond. Giving passengers a product so inferior that it can not even be compared to BA's WT+ and charge business class prices is probably the worst business decision anyone can make.

In addition, apart from the lack of PTV's, the domestic 777's don't have:
- a bed or something even remotely similar
- leg rests
- proper FA to PAX ratio
- a respectable seat pitch
