Welcome to FT and please don't make this your first and last posting. I know I have learned a lot here, and do so from posting answers as much as questions as well.

First thing I would suggest is to look at Marriott's website for the listing of the benefits for each of their elite levels. For Platinum here is the link: http://marriott.com/rewards/member-benefits/platinum.mi

Just as you suggest Marriott does provide a listing of the "minimum" required benefits for your elite level. You mention that the RI you stayed at didn't provide free phone calls. Note that that is not a stated benefit for RIs, but for Courtyards, SS, and FFIs. You also mention no free breakfasts at a lot of the Courtyards. Again, that is not a stated benefit for them. In fact, every one of your issues is shown as not a benefit for the stated day of week or hotel chain you mention.

Now with all that said, don't think I am trying to berate you at all. I definitely understand your frustration and if you spend some time and look over other threads in the Marriott forum you will see that there are many others who share your frustration as well.

One thing to note about Marriotts are that they are pretty good at providing at least the required level of service based on your elite level (at least now that they have excluded suite upgrades from their T&Cs . )

Now, you do suggest that maybe we try and document/list the properties within the Marriott system that go above and beyond what they are required to provide (i.e. a Courtyard that provides breakfast for elites even though they don't have to.) On this vein, note that we already have a sticky thread at the top of this forum that does this very thing by listing FS properties that keep their concierge lounges open during the weekends or provide breakfast for elites on the weekends (note that they don't have to do that.)

So what do others think about possibly starting another thread (or possibly modifying the existing thread mentioned above) to track all properties that go above and beyond the call of duty? (i.e. Courtyards that regularly provide elites breakfast, properties that provide free local phone service outside of the Courtyards, FFIs and SSs, FS properties that provide free internet access, etc) Would this be something that could easily be tracked, compiled and listed? Or would the benefit not be worth the effort?
