Dealing with Platinum Benefit Inconsistency?
Probably not the best first post to make, but I have been getting increasingly frustrated with the inconsistency of service/benefits for Platinum Elites at Marriotts all over the U.S. and in Europe.
For example, I just finished a 10 night stay at a Residence Inn only to be told at check out that "oh, local phone calls for Platinums are not free at this property" (not a huge deal, but had I known I would have used my cell phone instead of the more convenient hotel phone and saved myself a few bucks).
And some properties offer free breakfasts every day, some only during the days the Concierge Lounge is open, and others not at all (and no, even with many stays at various Courtyards, I've never been offered a certificate for free breakfast).
Some have free Internet, and some gouge you for $15/day (and while having Boingo helps, it's not guaranteed to allow you to always roam at a Marriott where there is a fee for Internet access).
So, getting to my question: I would like to know is whether anyone has compiled a list of which Platinum benefits are available at which properties (or at least by brand ) so that we can know what to expect?
I know it would be too much to ask to have each hotel's page on the Marriott web site indicate which Platinum (or Gold, or Silver) benefits they offer or don't, but boy, wouldn't that be nice!
